A Cosmic Christmas
A Cosmic Christmas is an animated TV movie from 1977 about three aliens visiting Earth to learn the true meaning of Christmas.
The whole film feels like someone spilled bong water on a black light poster of Santa Claus in space: in other words, it’s pretty far out, man!
The three aliens find the most normal human possible to teach them our ways: a little boy who walks around with a pet goose named Lucy. The boy’s grandma tells them all about how Christmas used to be before it got all commercial, then the aliens induce a shared hallucination for the whole family: y’know, all the usual holiday special stuff. Oh, and the aliens travel with a robotic flying balloon. Take a seat, Rudolph, there’s a new weirdo in town!
Will the three aliens who resemble Gandalf from Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings learn our ways, or be destroyed by a mob of angry grotesque cartoon humans? Will watching this inspire a case of the munchies so powerful you eat all the cookies and milk in the house long before Santa can arrive?
